Scrap-Bee-Licious Blocks for Liz
Jan requested Scrap Jar Star Blocks, also with 2" squares and lots of HSTs. Although I had made the centers prior to my discovery that scant seams were not needed for this type of block, the center measurements weren't too far off. I was extra careful to be precise for the outside HSTs and corner pieces. These were a smidge over the 12.5" mark - phew! She was hoping for a vintage look which I scrambled to achieve from my brightly colored scraps.
Global Scrap Bee Blocks for Jan
As usual, I am an overachiever and nervous that I will totally mess up for someone else, so I make lots of blocks before I choose the best for the queen. I'm saving all the extras for either pillows, totes or even a quilt.
Back to the crazy quilt blocks I am working on for yet another queen.
I feel your pain. I struggle constantly with the 1/4" seam. Your blocks are very pretty, though.
ReplyDeleteThese are so adorable! Whichever you decide to send is just so cute. I love the fabrics and the mix looks really great!. I always have a hard time with my machine and 1/4" seams. I never thought about it when I chose the Scrap Jar Stars. I think it is really going to make a cute quilt! Can't wait to get it all put together! Thank you so much for your hard work on this! :) xo jan
ReplyDeleteI was working on mine this weekend as well and came up slightly short - that scant is just SO hard to perfect, especially with so many squares! :)
ReplyDeleteYour blocks look amazing. I struggled with the Global scrap bee block, and after making it a few times I still think I sent off a mess. Oh the 1/4 inch seam, it keeps eluding me!
